Outstanding Professional Service Award
In recognition of the voluntary work undertaken by association committees the PTC introduced, in 2002, an annual award to be known as the "Outstanding Professional Service Award".
This award is made by the PTC on behalf of professional associations in recognition of the voluntary work undertaken by committee members of professional teachers' associations. The awards were presented by the Minister for Education and Training, The Hon. Carmel Tebbutt on Tuesday 6th December 2005 at the PTC Annual Presentation Evening.
The award recognises individual committee member's outstanding professional contribution to education in NSW made through a professional teachers' association.
2008 Awards

Holly Gyton
In recognition of her significant contribution to the support of mathematics education over a through The Mathematical Association of New South Wales.
Holly has been an active member of MANSW for many years. She held the position of Convenor of the MANSW Annual Conference for the years 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
During these years she helped to shape the alternating country /city/country conferences always maintaining top quality professional development sessions in comfortable and affordable venues.
In the years 2006 and 2007 Holly extended her influence of MANSW in her role as President. In this role her vision for the future direction of MANSW was mapped out. One of her achievements as President was the refurbishment of the MANSW website.
Holly is currently serving as Vice President of MANSW, and a member of the Curriculum Committee at the OBOS overseeing the writing phase of the stage 6 suite of Mathematics syllabus documents. Holly freely and willingly gives of her time in support of MANSW issues, she has been an exemplary role model for her colleagues in NSW, and has made an outstanding contribution to the work of MANSW.

Sue Thomson
In recognition of her significant contribution to the support of mathematics education over an extended period of time through The Mathematical Association of New South Wales.
Sue has been an active member of MANSW for many years. She has continuously held the position of Manager, Student Services since 2002. Prior to this, Sue held the position of Manager, Secondary Programs, organising professional development for secondary teachers across all sectors. In her current role, she has coordinated many high-quality learning activities for students at both a state and national level. Sue has maintained an admirable level of involvement in the professional learning of teachers, and has been instrumental in running MANSW professional development programs supporting teachers in non-metropolitan areas. She freely and willingly gives of her time as a regular presenter at annual conferences and other inservice courses. Sue has also represented MANSW on the Council of the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers.
Sue has been an exemplary role model for her colleagues in NSW, and has made an outstanding contribution to the work of MANSW.

Grant Beard
In recognition of his significant contribution to the support of mathematics education over an extended period of time through The Mathematical Association of New South Wales.
For over two decades, Grant has made an outstanding contribution to a range of MANSW publications. In particular, he has freely and willingly given of his time as Editor of the MANSW Secondary newsletter continuously for more than 20 years. Grant's quiet efficiency and his eye for detail have ensured that this newsletter has continued to be a high quality publication and a most valuable source of information for members. In 2002, he was conferred life membership of MANSW in recognition of his service to the Association.
Grant has made an invaluable contribution to the work of MANSW and his long-standing commitment has been exemplary.

2005 Awards

In recognition of her leadership and significant contribution to the support of teachers and education in NSW through The Mathematical Association of New South Wales as President 2004–2005, and Executive member since 1993.
Judy has been a member of MANSW since 1990, actively promoting mathematics education. She has maintained a high level of involvement in the professional development of teachers, including through her editorship of the Association’s secondary journal Reflections throughout the period 1992–2004. She is a regular presenter at annual conferences and inservice courses and a contributor of journal papers. She has coordinated many programs and activities, ensuring the delivery of high quality products and services. At the national level she has represented MANSW on the Council of the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers. In 2001 she was conferred life membership of MANSW in recognition of her service to the Association.
Judy has been an exemplary role model for her colleagues both in NSW and at the national level, and has made an outstanding contribution to the work of MANSW.
Dr Allan White PhD, MEd, BA, Grad. DipEd, DipTeach, MACE, GAustMS

Allan White has been a member of the MANSW Executive Committee for a total of 8 years and held the office of Secretary for a year and Reserve Secretary for 3 years. For the past 4 years he has held the office of Manager, Primary Publications, in which he has been responsible for the production of the three main primary publications. He edited the journal, Square One, for 4 years from 1993, and is currently its co-Editor. He is a regular contributor to the other 2 publications, the Newsletter and PAMphlets. Besides being a member and officer of MANSW’s committee for primary teaching, he has worked on Conference Committees, the Internet Group and the Primary Professional Development Committee.
Allan constantly encourages teachers and student teachers to become actively involved with MANSW and consistently disseminates information to his student teachers. He is very committed to the work on MANSW in supporting teachers through publications, professional development programs and research. In this he has made an outstanding contribution to MANSW in a number of areas.
